Can Multi-Instance Loop activity support timer?

Question

I am running into situation which I need timer on Multi-instance loop activity.  I just simply attach the timer.  But I have null pointer exception when process reaches that activity, without timer it runs well.  Can some else explain?

i have seen timers work with multi instance loops, you should check for variables which are null or you may have removed the default values for the fields in timer.
