The Spark UI toolkit (now the IBM BPM UI Toolkit, "SYSBPMUI" in the library) is built on:

  • Bootstrap 3 CSS for the grid, buttons, panels and responsive layouts (the "colorStyle" and sizing options map to Bootstrap classes).
  • jQuery (bundled) for DOM work in many controls; Dojo is still used by the coach framework underneath and by a few date / time widgets.
  • Font Awesome for icons.
  • Plain JavaScript coach views with the bpmext helper library (bpmext.ui.*, control addressing page.ui.get, formulas, the event system onLoad / onChange / onClick, the Data and Service Call controls).
  • Chart.js-style charts in the newer chart controls (older ones used D3), CKEditor for Rich Text, Dojo / native pickers for date-time.

Implications: you can style with Bootstrap classes and Font Awesome icon names in the control options, address any control from JavaScript, and mix custom coach views built with jQuery without adding libraries. The toolkit is delivered as part of BAW (System toolkits), the documentation and the "Spark Community" reference are on the Salient Process support site.
